Mission Statement

"To provide a broad spectrum of Programmatic concentrations affording undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to develop oral and written proficiency as well as critical thinking and analytical skills through the study of the language, literature and cultures of the Hispanic Southwest, Mexico, Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Of particular importance, given the University’s proximity to Mexico, are the Program’s efforts to promote and explore interactions among the cultures and the cultural values of the American Southwest."
