EL BURLADOR DE SEVILLA,
de Tirso de Molina
(Gabriel Téllez)

Users, please note that this text is based on several early and modern texts of EL BURLADOR DE SEVILLA, and was first edited in electronic form for classroom use by Vern G. Williamsen in 1982. The play was re-edited in 2001 to take into account the latest research and the newest editions of the play. The base text, in any case, is that found in DOZE COMEDIAS NUEVAS DE LOPE DE VEGA CARPIO Y OTROS AUTORES. SEGUNDA PARTE (Barcelona: Gerónimo Margarit, 1630), but corrections have been made to that text as suggested by the whole chain of critics who have prepared and edited versions of that text from Juan Eugenio Hartzenbusch (Madrid, 1846 ff.) to Gerald E. Wade (New York, 1968), Alfredo Rodríguez López-Vázquez (Kassel, 1987), and Luis Vázquez (Madrid, 1989). The text has been proof read several times and subjected to the usual spell-check programs but may contain a few typographical errors. If you encounter any, a note from you, via e-mail to vwilliam@u.arizona.edu, or via regular mail would be greatly appreciated by all who will use this text. Please note that this text is provided to you here for academic purposes only. For any other use, please contact the list owner.
