VALOR, AGRAVIO Y MUJER
by Ana Caro de Mallén

Users, please note that this text is based on several early texts of VALOR, AGRAVIO Y MUJER (two manuscripts held in the National Library in Madrid, 16.620 and 17.377), a suelta (n.p., n.d.) edition held in the New York Public Library, another suelta (n.d.) published in Sevilla by Leefdael, and the edition by Manuel Serrano y Saenz, in his APUNTES PARA UNA BIBLIOTECA DE ESCRITORAS ESPAÑOLAS... (Madrid:RAE, 1903), vol. 1. The play was edited for use as the script for a stage production of the work in 1990. This edition is the result of a collaboration between Vern Williamsen and María José Delgado. Because it was used as a script, some minor changes had to be made to the original text for reasons that reflect the reality of a theatrical production rather than a literary text. All passages where changes occur have been properly marked with square brackets in the text as it appears here. None of these changes were substantive. The text was proof read several times and subjected to the usual spell-check programs but may contain a few typographical or coding errors. If you encounter any, a note from you, via e-mail to vwilliam@u.arizona.edu, or via regular mail would be greatly appreciated by all who will use this text. Please note that this text is provided to you here for academic purposes only. For any other use, please contact the list owner.
