EL PRÍNCIPE CONSTANTE
by Pedro Calderón de la Barca
Users, please note that this text is based on the princeps edition of EL
PRÍNCIPE CONSTANTE in the PRIMERA PARTE DE COMEDIAS DE DON PEDRO
CALDERÓN DE LA BARCA (Madrid: María de Quiñones, 1636)
that was edited with the aid of later printings of that same edition, the
manuscript copy (MS 15.159) of the National Library in Madrid, the
PRIMERA PARTE... edited and published by Juan de Vera Tassis (Madrid:
Franciso Sanz, 1685), and with the edition of the play edited by Alberto
Porqueras Mayo for CLÁSICOS CASTELLANOS, 204, in 1975. The play as
it appears here was edited by Vern G. Williamsen for this presentation in
1996 and, although it has been proof-read several times and subjected to the
usual spell-check programs, may well still contain a few typographical or
coding errors. If you encounter any, a note from you, via e-mail to
vwilliam@u.arizona.edu, or via regular mail would be greatly appreciated
by all who will use this text. Please note that this text is provided to
you here for academic purposes only. For any other use, please contact the
