On
November 5, 2007, Stéphane Martin, Président du
Musée du Quai Branly, gave a talk entitled "The
Quai Branly Museum : a new building in Paris by Jean Nouvel" The
talk was co-sponsored by the Alliance Française de Tucson,
the UA department of French and Italian, the UA College of Humanities,
and the UA College of Architecture. The presentation was in
English and was free & open to the public.
In the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, the Quai Branly Museum is
the only museum to have been built in Paris for 25 years. S.
Martin is a judge in France's Cour des comptes which supervises
the way public money is spent. He started at the Court in 1982
after studies at Paris's Institute of Political Studies and
ENA (National School for Administration). He has also worked
as General Delegate of the Georges Pompidou Center, as Assistant
director of music at Radio France, in several posts at the Ministry
of Culture, and as director of the Grimaldi Forum, a cultural
complex in Monaco. He is Board president of the Ensemble Inter
Contemporain which fosters contemporary classical music.
