The University of Arizona Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) is approaching its 40 year anniversary. Not only is CESL a long-standing program, it has just earned the honor of national CEA Accreditation for the maximum 10-year term.

*serves more than 800 students from more than 30 different countries every year on campus and around the globe in English as a Second Language and teacher training programs
*teaches intensive, part-time, individualized and customized English as a Second Language classes, year-round
*faculty have published numerous textbooks, hold key national leadership positions in the profession, all with Masters or Doctoral degrees in language teaching
*partners with numerous academic units on campus, provides faculty to teach credit courses and serve on doctoral student committees
*recruits hundreds of international students every year (many who then matriculate into the UA)
* works with a network of recruiters across the globe to bring students to campus
*frequently hosts esteemed Fulbright and Humphrey students and scholars
*is a self-funding unit founded on entrepreneurial excellence
*is the only CEA nationally accredited university-based ESL program in Arizona
According to CESL Director Suzanne Panferov, earning 10-year CEA Accreditation is the top professional honor a university ESL program can earn.
