College of Humanities (COH) advisors believe that New Student Orientation is a crucial component of a student's university education. New Student Orientation is mandatory for freshmen so we encourage you to sign up for an Orientation session if you have not already done so.
Here is a glimpse of what you can expect when you meet with the College of Humanities advisors during Orientation.
At the College Meeting on the first day, the COH advisors will explain the advising structure in the college, introduce you to some of the major advisors and walk you through the B.A. degree structure. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have - about General Education courses, extracurricular activities offered by the college, career opportunities, the UA, just about anything that's on your mind.
You will most likely be taking the Second Language Proficiency Exam for Placement (LP) on the afternoon of the first day. The LP exams for Spanish, French, German or Latin are administered by the College of Humanities and the COH advisors will be available at the exam site to answer any questions you may have regarding the second language requirement at the UA.
On the second day of Orientation, you will again meet with the COH advisors so they can assist you with registration and you will receive your first semester class schedule.
