Robert and Minnie M. Torrance Scholarship in Creative Writing

Source: Gifts from family and friends of the late Minnie M. Torrance, for 40 years the Principal of the Cananea English School, now the Instituto Minerva and Robert F. Torrance for more that 40 years an administrator with the Annaconda Copper Company Mine in Cananea, Sonora Republic of Mexico.

Eligibility: Upper division and graduate students in creative writing, not limited by citizenship.  Academic achievement is the principal factor in selection of the recipients.  All things being equal, the award would go to the student with the most need and the highest faculty recommendation, and to those who are willing to express a written intent of repayment of the scholarship when and if circumstances permit.  No limits as to sex, religion, etc.  Must be approved by the Dean of the College of Humanities and the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Value: The return on investment for one full fiscal year to each recipient.  Renewable senior year for maintenance of 3.5 average.
