The Samuel McMillan Memorial Scholarship

Source:  The University of Arizona Foundation.  A long-time friend of the University of Arizona, Samuel McMillan served for 17 years as UA vice president for planning and development, and for 20 years as director of the University of Arizona Foundation.  Mr. McMillan tied the University and the community together by participating in a number of community service organizations.  The Samuel McMillan Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the many contributions that Mr. McMillan made to the University of Arizona.

Eligibility: Successful candidates will be female undergraduate students in the department of English at the University of Arizona with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, in good academic standing.  Successful candidates will demonstrate the characteristics that are reminiscent of the varied qualities evident in the life of Samuel McMillan:  innovative leadership style; significant involvement in volunteer, community-based activities; academic achievement.
Selection:  Each spring, the Office of Student Financial Aid will make recommendations to the Grants and Awards Committee.  Final determination is subject to the approval of the full UA Foundation Board.

Value:  Varies.  Awards from this fund will be made annually.
