About the College

Message from the Dean

The College of Humanities is home to most of the departments and programs at The University of Arizona devoted to the study of the world's languages, literatures, and cultures. Humanities programs emphasize the importance of critical and creative thinking and writing.

Students prepare for careers in a great variety of fields, including education, public service, international business, and the foreign service, among others. The abilities developed in humanities courses are applicable to many professions requiring research skills, analytical abilities, and clear written and oral expression.

The College also offers a wide range of study abroad programs and opportunities for students in all disciplines – from the Guadalajara Summer School, one of the oldest study programs in Mexico , to recently opened sites in Africa , Chile , and East Asia .
