Latin Teaching Assistantships

Graduate Teaching Assistants teach several sections of Latin each year. Under the supervision of the Latin Program Director, each Latin Teaching Assistant is responsible for her/his own section (4 hours per week) of Elementary (i.e. 100 level) or Intermediate (i.e. 200 level) Latin. The department currently uses the Oxford Latin Course for the first three semesters and students read selections from Vergil's Aeneid in the fourth semester. During the semesters in which they are teaching, Latin Teaching Assistants must enroll in a 500 level (graduate) Latin course and participate in weekly coordination meetings (and/or enroll in Latin 586, Issues in Latin Teaching Methodology). Graduate students interested in teaching in the Latin Program should contact Dr. White.

In the fall semester graduate students may also teach Latin at the department's Orvieto Institute. For specific qualifications click here.
