2008 Summer Intensive Latin Program at the University of Arizona

Session I: Latin 112 (6 units) June 9-July 10 (Professor David Christenson & Professor Cynthia White)
Session II: Latin 212 (6 units) July 14-August 13
(Professor David Christenson &Professor Cynthia White)

The program (now in its 16th year) offers the equivalent of four semesters of college-level Latin in two five-week sessions. The first session (= Latin 101-102) will introduce basic Latin grammar and syntax; the second session (= Latin 201-202) will include readings in Apuleius and Vergil, among other prose authors. In addition to four hours of class daily, students may choose to attend tutorials and and review sessions.

Students may enroll for one or both sessions. Successful students will be prepared to enroll in intermediate or advanced Latin courses. No prior knowledge of Latin is necessary to enroll in Latin 112, but previous language experience is useful. The cost of the summer intensive program is very low, as is the cost of living in Tucson during the summer.
