Position Summary

Africana Studies at the University of Arizona invites applicants for Lecturer positions (nontenure-track, but with multi-year contract status) beginning Fall, 2007 who will teach a total of 12 credits per semester in a broad range of Africana Studies courses that may include such courses as Africana women's studies, religion, philosophy, history, politics, literature, sociology of race, psychology, education, and aesthetics of film and media. The department is seeking individuals who demonstrate a visible track-record of excellent teaching and scholarship in the area of Africana Studies.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Teach courses in Africana Studies as assigned by the Director.
* Develop and/or follow course materials.
* Lecture on the material outlined in the department's course syllabi.
* Maintain office hours for students.
* Administer and grade exams.
* Participate in department and curriculum committee meetings.  

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Not applicable for this title.  

Additional Minimum Qualifications

* Ph.D. in relevant field.
* Demonstrated experience teaching in a related discipline.  

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with excellent teaching skills in African American/Africana Studies at the university level.
