DR. SHEILA PARKER
|
Dr. Sheila Parker is an Associate Professor
in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman Arizona College of Public Health. She
is a Nutritionist and a Certified Health Education Specialist through
the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Allentown,
PA.
Dr. Parker currently serves as Chair of the undergraduate Health
Education Program, MEZA College of Public Health, University of Arizona.
She is adjunct faculty in the Africana Studies Department and in the
Mexican American Studies and Research Center, at the University of
Arizona.
Dr. Parker's service has primarily dealt with improving access
to care, nutrition, and health education among underserved low income,
ethnic, and racially diverse populations. She has been involved with
research on body image and its impact on health behaviors among African
American and Caucasian American adolescent girls. She is currently
the Principal Investigator and Director of the Southern Arizona Health
Careers Opportunity Program (SABHCOP) funded by HRSA's Division of
Health Careers Diversity and Development, U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services, Public Health Service. SABHCOP addresses health
disparities and poor access to quality health care by recruiting and
supporting future health professionals for a racially diverse and
culturally competent health care
workforce in Southern Arizona. |
