AFRICANA STUDIES SPRING 2005 LECTURE SERIES
PRESENTS

MOJI AGHA
(VISITING LECTURER, AFRICANA STUDIES)
The destructive conduct of U.S. foreign policy in the Muslim World and Africa, in particular, has been animated by CULTURAL factors in recent decades. Using three intimate examples (local and global) in relation to geographic colonialism, politicized religion, and colonial "feminism," the presenter will highlight and analyze the critical role of culture, as it is used and manipulated consciously and unconsciously, to mask the economic, political, cultural, and "religious" motives of American imperial behavior, especially in the post-9/11 "new world."
